VIDEO // New emergency medical assistance point inaugurated in norther-western district of Moldova

A new emergency medical assistance point today was inaugurated in Risipeni, north-western Falesti district. The building was constructed from scratch and equipped according to international standards. The investment aims to ensure faster and safer access to medical services for over 7,000 residents from 15 settlements.

The inauguration event was attended by Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, the deputy head of National Pre-Hospital Emergency Assistance Centre (CNAMUP), Iurie Crasiuc, MPs and representatives of local administration.

The health minister noted that the project was part of a comprehensive programme to modernize the country's medical infrastructure.

“We continue at the Health Ministry with the same determination with which we began to seriously invest in the medical system. We make these investments for all population of our country's and for each individual, as, according to the Constitution, the right to health is paramount. As a doctor, I consider health and access to medical services to be the most important right of the citizen,” the minister said.

She noted that the new building had an area of over 200 m² and includes modern spaces for work and rest, technical blocks and garages for recently purchased ambulances.

“It is very important that here, in Risipeni, a new building was constructed, as the old one no longer met any criteria. Across the country, in recent years, we have built a significant number of emergency medical assistance points and stations from scratch, so that personnel can operate in decent conditions,” Nemerenco emphasized.

According to the cited source, the medical point operates under the Falesti-based Emergency Medical Assistance Station, where 12 specialists serve a population of over 7,000 people from 15 localities.

“In all these villages, people depend on your interventions in critical situations. Often, you are under pressure to react quickly and efficiently to save lives. The ministry has the obligation to provide you with all necessary conditions and resources to make the intervention time as short as possible,” the minister added.

Nemerenco highlighted that, in recent years, about 18 million lei had been invested in modernizing medical infrastructure in Falesti district alone.

“The Falesti Emergency Medical Assistance Station received significant investments: medical points were reconstructed; garages and warehouses were built and six new ambulances were added to the fleet in less than two and a half years. Nationally, 209 ambulances were purchased, with a total value of 268 million lei,” Nemerenco specified.

The minister also emphasized other investments in the Falesti District Hospital.

“The Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit was fully renovated and equipped. The hospital received anesthesia equipment, ultrasonographs, defibrillators, ventilators, operating room lamps and its own oxygen production station, providing total autonomy even in crisis conditions,” the official stated.

Additionally, primary healthcare in the district underwent modernizations.

“Four health centers and family physician offices have been endowed with modern equipment. Moreover, through the rural pharmacy project, the first pharmacies were opened where none existed before,” the minister also said.

According to data presented by Nemerenco, nationally, investments in the medical system exceeded 4 billion lei, of which over one billion directed to district hospitals.

“All these results were also possible thanks to our development partners – the European Union, the United States, Japan, South Korea – who provided us with modern equipment, many of them for free. These investments clearly show the government's commitment to elevate the health system to European and international standards, which we all aspire to,” concluded the Minister of Health.

For his part, the CNAMUP deputy director, Iurie Crasiuc, noted that, in recent years, the service had benefited from massive investments, allowing rapid interventions for each citizen.

“On behalf of everyone present, we sincerely thank the contractor who completed this work and honored the contractual terms. Today, we have goal achieved on time and according to requirements, an important step for the community. At the same time, we thank the relevant authorities for the modern facilities: properly equipped ambulances, suitable spaces for personnel, as all these are not simple investments, but guarantees that people will receive quick and quality medical assistance. Our aim is to consolidate this center and turn it into a place in which people have confidence and where medical staff can work in the best conditions. Young specialists will be attracted to work here only when they know they have everything necessary for their work,” Crasiuc said.

Andrei Olari, the head physician of Risipeni Emergency Medical Assistance Point (PAMU), said that the entire community had been waiting for this new point.

“Today is an important day for our community. On behalf of the entire team of the Risipeni PAMU, I want to thank everyone who contributed to this project's realization. Lastly, I want to thank my colleagues. I have deep respect for your dedication, diligence and unconditional work. Everything we do is for the people's good, and this new building will help us work in modern conditions and enhance the quality of training and interventions in providing first medical aid, even at the pre-hospital stage. I am confident that, together, we can provide citizens with emergency medical services at the highest standards,” the cited source opined.

According to the Health Ministry, 35 emergency medical assistance stations and points have been repaired or constructed in recent years.
