VIDEO // Moldova's law enforcement bodies identify clandestine printing house producing illegal publications with defamatory content

The law enforcement bodies have identified and neutralized a clandestine printing house involved in the production and dissemination of materials with illegal characteristics and inflammatory content. The printing house operated in a location in Chisinau, equipped with security systems and restricted access.

According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), the clandestine printing house was producing publications with defamatory messages against state institutions, inciting religious hatred and attempting to influence public opinion through propagandistic means, with content in both Romanian and Russian languages.

“The printing activity was carried out by two men, aged 36 and 48, both originating from the Ocnita district. They said that the newspapers were to be distributed in the northern region of the country, with the process being managed by a clerical leader from the north, affiliated with the Metropolitan See of Moldova and a supporter of a political formation involved in the electoral race,” the IGP informed.

During the investigations, two other men aged 33 and 47 were identified.

“They held over 18,800 copies of a publication in a storage space in Balti. One of the three detained individuals admitted, during interrogations, that he had been in the Russian Federation, at the invitation of Evrazia,” said the IGP.

The case is under investigation, and all evidence and statements are to be analyzed, in order to determine the responsibility of the individuals involved and to fully document the deed.
