Moldovan president conveys congratulatory message upon completion of screening process
President Maia Sandu today conveyed a congratulatory message to those who had contributed to the completion of the screening process in record time. The official praised the "technical capacity and passion for advancing quickly in the EU accession process."
The head of state noted that, in order to succeed in continuation, political support was also needed in the next parliament.
"Congratulations to all the colleagues who contributed to the completion of the screening process in record time - twice as fast as other candidate states. We have shown that we have the technical capacity and passion for advancing quickly in the EU accession process. But to succeed, political support is needed in the next parliament. Let's continue with the same determination," Maia Sandu said.
Moldova on September 22, in Brussels, completed the bilateral screening process that had started in July 2024. During the exercise, experts from public institutions analyzed over 100,000 pages of national legislation compared to the ones of the European Union.
The bilateral screening process is a crucial step in the EU accession negotiations. Its completion is considered a major step on the European way of Moldova, which got its status of country candidate for accession in June 2022.
