VIDEO // Residents of Molovata Nouă, Cocieri and Corjova supplied with food and essential goods
Residents of Molovata Nouă, Cocieri and Corjova are being supplied with food products and essential goods. Economic agents from the right bank of the Dniester River have access to these localities in order to deliver vital products.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri paid a visit today to Cocieri plateau, where the activity of the state enterprise Bacul Molovata was suspended due to ice formation on the Dniester River.
“I am on Cocieri plateau and I have visited the communes Molovata Nouă and Cocieri to get first-hand information about the current situation. As you know, due to low temperatures, the Dniester River has frozen in this area, creating certain problems for ensuring the supply of food products and essential goods for the residents on the plateau. I held discussions with the mayors of these localities and I can state that the situation is currently under control. We will continue to work closely with the local public administration to ensure a prompt and efficient response in case of emergency,” said Valeriu Chiveri.
The operation of Molovata ferry was suspended starting 14 January, due to the thick layer of ice formed on the Dniester River. Traffic will be resumed as soon as weather conditions and ice thickness allow safe navigation.
The ferry remains the only open access route for the about 9,000 residents of Cocieri plateau – the communes Molovata Nouă, Cocieri and Corjova.
