DOC // Ion Ojog promoted to military rank of brigadier general

Colonel Ion Ojog has been promoted to the military rank of brigadier general. A presidential decree to this effect was signed by President Maia Sandu and published today in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Ion Ojog is 43 years old and has previously held several leadership positions within Fulger Special Purpose Battalion. Between 2021 and 2024, he served as commander of the 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade “Moldova” in Bălți. Subsequently, from 2024 to 2026, he held the position of head of the International Cooperation Directorate within the Ministry of Defence. In June 2026, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Defence.

He is the commander of the military parade dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Moldova.

The presidential decree was signed on 7 August and entered into force on the same day.
