Judoka Adil Osmanov wins gold medal at World University Games

Judoka Adil Osmanov won the gold medal at the World University Games, held in Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany.

Our athlete stood on the highest step of the podium after a spectacular final in which he defeated the Russian representative, Armen Agayan, with a score of 4-1.

Adil Osmanov had a remarkable journey in the competition. He started with a victory against Chilean Felipe Perez, advanced in the quarterfinals against Nariman Mirzayev from Azerbaijan, and in the semifinals, he won by Wazari against Aron Szabo from Hungary. His performance is all the more valuable considering it was his first competition after a year-long break due to two surgeries.

This is the first medal for the Republic of Moldova at the 2025 edition of the World University Games.

The 2025 World University Games bring together over 9,200 participants from more than 150 countries. The Republic of Moldova is represented by 31 athletes.
