People's Assembly of Gagauz Autonomy refuses to consider validation of composition of autonomy's executive body put forward by new bashkan

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The People’ Assembly (local parliament - APG) of the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA Gagauz-Yeri), which held a meeting today, did not include on the agenda the subject on the validation of the composition of the autonomy’s executive body, put forward by bashkan (governor) Evghenia Gutul on 27 July.   
Most lawmakers of the region reasoned their decision by the fact that the presentation of the new executive authority of UTA Gagauzia had been made in haste, in the street, without consultations and without the approval of the APG commissions. ‘’We need to observe the procedure; the candidates for the executive committee must be evaluated by the APG’s competent commissions. You should not impose this to us; there will be no problem, if the composition of the executive is approved next week, the former speaker, present member of the People’s Assembly Vladimir Kîssa said. He showed discontented that the members of the executive body had been introduced in the street, on TV.      
In the context, APG president Dmitri Constantinov stressed that 70 days were provided for the nomination of the executive body’s members, under the legislation. ‘’On 27 July afternoon, we received the request and today they already demand that we include it on the agenda. That’s not the way things are done. There is procedure and law,’’ Constantinov said.   
Only three APG MPs voted for the inclusion on the agenda of the subject on the validation of the composition of the executive body of UTA Gagauz-Yeri and its consideration was postponed.  
Governor of UTA Gagauz-Yeri Evghenia Gutul on 27 July presented on the square in Comrat the new composition of the autonomy’s executive committee. According to the list proposed, the bashkan will have three deputy governors – Victor Petrov, Mihail Vlah and Pavel Verejanu. Iuri Cuznetov will be the head of the bashkan’s apparatus. At the same time, one of the members of the Comrat executive committee remained in office. The list of the executive committee’s members was submitted to the People’s Assembly of UTA Gagauz-Yeri for approval. The appointment of the new executive body is provided for by the law, after the elections of the bashkan took place in the autonomy.
