Bulgarian-language radio station could be opened in south of country
The possibility of opening a Bulgarian-language radio station in the south of the country was discussed today in Chișinău by Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan, Deputy Minister of Culture of Bulgaria Ashot Kazaryan and Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio Milen Mitev.
Cristian Jardan said he will support all initiatives to assist the Bulgarian community in Taraclia region, implemented by the Government of Bulgaria.
“We discussed how the Bulgarian cultural and linguistic identity can be strengthened through initiatives that bring people closer together and maintain the connection with the European Bulgarian cultural space. The role of public media in our countries in this process is very important, including through exchanges of experience and forms of cooperation that can naturally contribute to people’s access to high-quality cultural and informational content of a European level,” said Cristian Jardan.
The official welcomed the intention of the Bulgarian public broadcaster to expand programming in the southern region of the country in order to support the Bulgarian community.
“After a branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse was opened in Taraclia last year for the first time, we hope that soon the Bulgarian public broadcaster will expand its programs in the region to help the Bulgarian community preserve its identity and traditions, in the spirit of European standards,” Jardan said.
During the meeting, several measures aimed at strengthening cultural and media cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria were also discussed.
