Moldovan president invites people to rediscover book as space of inner peace on National Reading Day
In a world of screens, reading is a form of self-care. On the National Reading Day, I invite you to rediscover the book as a space of inner peace. President Maia Sandu has made statements to this effect on the occasion of the Reading Day, marked in Moldova today.
“Reading helps us hear our own thoughts. We read not to run away from the world, but to return to it more balanced. In a world of screens, reading is a form of self-care,” Maia Sandu noted.
In Moldova, the National Reading Day is annually marked on February 14 and is an important initiative for promoting reading. On this day, Moldovans also commemorate the birthday of the great departed poet, Grigore Vieru, in order to encourage reading and a culture of knowledge at all ages.
