Commemorative exhibition of Moldovan plastic artist varnished in Chisinau
Chisinau, 04 September /MOLDPRES/ – The National Art Museum of Moldova organised today the opening of commemorative exhibition of paintings and graphics: Ada Zevin – 100 years of birth. The exhibition includes about 70 paintings from the collection of Museum.
In his speech, director of institution, Tudor Zbarnea, mentioned that Ada Zevin is one of Moldova's most important painters of century XX. "She was a creator of chromatic harmonies, as others did not. She knew how to guide her disciples in very special areas. It is an exhibition that includes all the best of artist Ada Zevin in her creation," said Tudor Zbarnea.
Attending the event, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, said that this painter can compete with the great artists from anywhere. According to official, due to her native talent, Ada Zevin created some works that became high art samples. In this context, President of Moldovan Artists Union, Dumitru Bolboceanu, remarked that the protagonist of the event is a painter which created a picture of Moldovan plastic arts in the world.
At her turn, art critic Ludmila Toma pointed out, inter alia, that Ada Zevin has gone through several stages of creation. "In her youth she expressed her interest in post – Impressionism, in 1940 – 1950 – understanding of the tonal space painting system, and in early 1960s – return to colour expression in a new level of thinking, complexity of coloristic and texture," said Ludmila Toma. And Cristina Harea, deputy governor of the National Bank, said that a commemorative coin dedicated to Adei Zevin will be issued by the end of 2018.
Ada Zevin was born on 03 September 1918 in Chisinau city. She studied at the Academy of Belle Arte in Bucharest (1938 – 1940), and continued at the Belle-Arte School in Chisinau (1940 – 1941, 1945 – 1947) and at the State Academic Institute of Fine Arts of Moscow V. I. Surikov (1947 – 1949). Due to the increased ideological pressure, she transferred to the Faculty of History and Theory of Arts at Ilia Repin Institute of Fine Arts in Leningrad and in 1953 she defended her bachelor thesis entitled: Art in Romania, sentury XIX – beginning of century XX. She was decorated with the Order of the Republic. She died in 2015.
The exhibition is open until 14 October.
