Ministry of Culture launches second grants competition for media in 2025

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova supports initiatives aimed at strengthening free press and supporting content of public interest through direct funding. Thus, the second competition for granting subsidies to media institutions has been launched.

The deadline for submitting applications is 14 August 2025. The applications will be evaluated by the Expert Council within no more than one month after the closure of the submission period.

The priority areas for 2025 include:

  • Promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova, national values, the rule of law, and European integration;
  • Supporting native culture, historical memory, sports, environmental protection, economy, and local specificities;
  • Promoting inclusion and social cohesion, including through media products in minority languages;
  • Encouraging investigative journalism;
  • Media education, combating misinformation and information literacy;
  • Supporting local and regional media productions;
  • Strengthening institutional capacities for editorial and economic independence.

Three categories of funding are available:

  • National television: a maximum ceiling of 2 million lei per project, total allocated budget – 18 million lei;
  • Regional/local television, radio, print and online media: a maximum ceiling of 1.25 million lei per project, total budget – 15 million lei;
  • Small projects: ceiling of 250,000 lei per project, total budget – 2 million lei.

The Ministry of Culture and the Expert Council recommend all interested media institutions to submit applications in advance, to avoid any non-compliance and ensure the eligibility of the application.

The total budget allocated for the project competition within the Media Subsidy Fund in 2025 is 35 million lei. This amount provides media institutions with the opportunity to implement innovative projects with a real impact on communities, thus contributing to the development of a pluralistic, professional, and sustainable media environment.
