Prime Minister at World Expo in Osaka
On Romanian Language Day, Prime Minister Dorin Recean inaugurated the Republic of Moldova Day at World Expo in Osaka, Japan – an important event to promote the tourist and investment attractiveness of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the culture of our country at the prestigious international event.
In his address to the exhibitors and visitors, Recean noted that the pavilion of the Republic of Moldova shares with the world the story of a people proud of its heritage, confident in its future, and has already been visited by over 400,000 visitors from Japan and all over the world.
"The Infinite Table – a symbol of our legendary hospitality – invites everyone to discover Moldova's authentic tastes, while the wine corner showcases Moldova's treasures, appreciated by connoisseurs worldwide," he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Japan, as well as the Japanese support for our country's European integration. "Moldova and Japan share the same vision: that dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the rules are the foundation of peace. We are equally grateful for Japan's support for Moldova's European path. Japanese technology and expertise contribute to the modernization of agriculture, infrastructure, and public services in Moldova," he said.
The official noted that Moldovan products, especially wine and organic products, are becoming increasingly known on the Japanese market, and Moldova is ready to become a reliable platform for Japanese investors – a gateway to the EU's single market of 400 million people. Recean invited Japanese businesspeople to invest in renewable energy, digital innovation, modern infrastructure, and agriculture.
Japan Government representative, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yuichiro Koga said that Moldovan wine is appreciated worldwide. "I am pleased to see that in recent years, Moldovan wine made from the best grape varieties grown on the fertile vineyards of the Republic of Moldova has gained popularity on the Japanese market." The Japanese official expressed confidence that our country's pavilion will help promote the image of the Republic of Moldova in Japan and worldwide.
The Republic of Moldova pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 offers visitors a unique experience of our country. Visitors can discover our culture and crafts, taste local wines and dishes, try on traditional costumes, virtually explore tourist locations, and learn about investment opportunities.
The cultural program of the Republic of Moldova Day at the World Expo in Osaka included performances by artists Violeta Botezatu, Cezar Moldovan, Eugen Negruta and Pasha Parfeni. Fluieraș folk dance ensemble and contemporary dance duo Alexandra Soșnicova and Serghei Golovnea also performed.
The World Expo in Osaka is one of the largest international exhibitions, organized every five years. The event runs until 13 October and gathers ideas and projects that can change the world. Over 150 countries are participating in the event, and about 28 million visitors are expected over six months.
