Moldovan PM says Japan becomes increasingly important economic partner for Moldova

Prime Minister Dorin Recean has had a meeting with PM of Japan Shigeru Ishiba, during which the officials discussed investment opportunities and mutual collaboration. The Moldovan prime minister emphasized that projects supported by Japan in agriculture, health, education and local development brought direct benefits to Moldovan citizens.

"In just the last four years, the grant assistance provided by Japan to Moldova has amounted to 600 million lei," specified Dorin Recean.

The Moldovan PM noted that Japan was becoming an increasingly significant economic partner for Moldova, with trade exchanges between the two states increasing by 19 per cent compared to the last year.

During the discussions, Recean presented the economic potential of Moldova, noting the direct access to the European Union market, a competitive business environment and well-trained human resources.

He emphasized that Moldova could become a launch platform for Japanese investments in the region, especially in such strategic areas as digitalization and green energy.
