Over 3 billion lei allocated for roads' rehabilitation in 2025; Moldovan PM says government to continue investments in roads' infrastructure

The government will continue investments in roads’ infrastructure. This year alone, 3.2 billion lei is allocated for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of roads and bridges. Prime Minister Dorin Recean has made statements to this effect, in the context that representatives of the authorities presented detailed information on the carrying out of works on the Chisinau bypass toad.

The PM emphasized that, this year, the budget allocated for roads’ infrastructure represents ‘’the largest amount of money ever allocated in Moldova’’ in this sector.

‘’Throughout the country, people see the results of the investments made by the government in the repair of local, regional and national roads. They know how important it is to stay united and move in the right direction, the one of joining the EU. The government will continue investments in roads’ infrastructure. This year alone, 3.2 billion lei is allocated for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of roads and bridges—the highest amount ever allocated in Moldova for roads’ infrastructure,’’ emphasized Dorin Recean.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea said that, in the last four years, the authorities had managed to attract new financial resources to develop the new Chisinau bypass road.

‘’Today, we are on the Chisinau bypass, an extremely important road infrastructure. We have ruled to invest in this national road segment, in order to ease the transport that comes into Chisinau and reduce pollution in the city,’’ said the deputy prime minister.

According to the official, the new bypass road, which will be designed with four lanes and a total length of 90 km, will ensure fast travel and will connect all the suburbs of the capital.

‘’Thus, carriers traveling through Chisinau will have a new, convenient and safe route at their disposal, and the traffic through the capital, currently hit by transit transport, will decrease. The government will continue to invest in roads and road infrastructure, thus providing citizens with more opportunities for growth and development,’’ said Vladimir Bolea.

A total of 3.2 billion lei this year will be invested for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of roads and bridges in Moldova. The money will be used to modernize over 600 kilometers of local and regional roads. In the last three years, 766 km of roads have been renovated, three times more than in the previous ten years, statistics data shows.

Presently, major road rehabilitation projects are underway, financed with the support of European international financial institutions, such as the Soroca-Otaci or Hancesti-Leuseni routes, or Hancesti-Leova-Cantemir, as well as bypass roads of Vulcanesti and Slobozia Mare.
