ANRE provides explanations regarding energy bills for January

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today provided clarifications regarding bills for natural gas, electricity and thermal energy for January.

According to ANRE, the total cost shown on the bill is influenced by several cumulative factors and not only by the regulated price. Thus, some bills may include: debts accumulated from previous periods, clearly indicated on the bill; a higher consumption of energy resources, determined by the low temperatures in January; the specific consumption profile of a particular type of consumer, an aspect that can be checked in the “consumption history” section.

At the same time, this January significantly lower temperatures were recorded, which led to an increase in consumption to ensure thermal comfort in homes. Therefore, ANRE urges consumers to adopt a rational and efficient use of energy resources, adapted to real needs and climatic conditions, thus contributing to a correct management of the expenses in their bills.

ANRE also warns that recently, images of bills indicating high values for the consumption of electricity, natural gas, or thermal energy have been frequently distributed in the public space, without always providing their full context.

The information posted online often presents only certain elements of the bill, such as only the amount to be paid and not the full bill, or some clearly inauthentic elements are observed on the bill, which in most cases do not reflect the real situation.

These posts are usually accompanied by distorted messages with a negative social or political character, most of them being posted by anonymous users or users without real identity, with the purpose of spreading misleading messages and provoking panic-inducing discussions among consumers.

To avoid misinterpretations, ANRE recommends that consumers carefully check the full structure of the bill, including the section on debts, and consult the consumption history. If additional questions arise, citizens can contact their supplier for specific clarifications or call ANRE Information Hotline for assistance (080010008).
