Consumers from Chisinau to pay less for district heating

Consumers of the Moldovan capital will pay less for district heating supplied by the Termoelectrica. The company has requested a tariff reduction of 330 lei per Gcal, from the current 2,510 lei down to 2,180 lei. The request is to be examined by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), which will approve the final decision.

The request to adjust the tariff was submitted after the price of natural gas decreased.

At the same time, CET-Nord JSC submitted to ANRE a request to adjust the tariff for the consumers from Balti. In their case, the tariff will increase by 233 lei per Gcal, reaching 2,359 lei compared to the current 2,126 lei.

On February 3, ANRE ruled to reduce the tariffs paid by consumers for natural gas. Thus, the tariff decreased by 2.15 lei per one cubic meter, down to 13.35 lei, excluding the value added tax (VAT), compared to the previous price of 15.50 lei.

After the decision was approved, ANRE director Constantin Borosan said that the cutting of the natural gas tariffs might lead to lower prices for district heating. The official stressed that ANRE had sent a letter to all license holders, asking them to submit requests for adjusting the regulated prices for the supply of district heating.

The last adjustment of the district heating tariff paid by the residents of the capital was made by ANRE at the beginning of last year, when the district heating supplied by Termoelectrica became more expensive. Presently, Chisinau residents pay 2,510 lei per one Gcal (excluding VAT).
