North Bus Station of Chisinau returns 85 per cent to state ownership: decision of Council for examination of investments of strategic importance

The North Bus Station will return 85 per cent to state ownership. This comes after the Council for the Examination of Investments of Strategic Importance for State Security upheld the refusal to grant prior approval for investments to LLC “GARA NORD.”

According to data from the official state register, starting from 7 June 2020, after the disposal of state assets, multiple successive changes were made to the company’s ownership structure, including through the involvement of natural and legal persons affiliated with a family on the list of persons and entities associated with subjects of international sanctions.

Thus, the Council reconfirmed the decisions previously adopted through acts issued in July 2025 and January 2026, and subsequently also refused the transaction for the disposal of 100 per cent of LLC “GARA NORD” (North Bus Station). By its final decision, the Council ordered a return to the control structure that existed prior to the transaction of June 7, 2020.

According to the Public Property Agency (PPA), within 20 days from the date of notification, which is April 14, 2026, the company must revert to the legal situation existing before this transaction. Thus, 85 per cent of the company shares are to return to the state, under the control of the PPA, and 15 per cent - to Extremum LLC. In practice, the current holders of the company’s shares must transfer their stakes in this structure, the PPA emphasized.

The institution stressed that the operational activity of the North Bus Station was not affected by this decision. According to the PPA, services continue as usual, and the assets managed by the enterprise must be maintained and handed over in functional condition.
