EcoVoucher // Nearly 4200 families replaced old appliances with new, energy-efficient ones
In the current session of EcoVoucher Program, 4184 vouchers have been utilized, announces the Ministry of Energy, specifying that 4184 families will spend less money on electricity. Minister Dorin Junghietu discussed on 21 March with several beneficiary families of EcoVoucher program.
The Minister of Energy urged beneficiaries to opt for appliances with a higher energy class, indicated in energy labels on a scale from A to G. In Moldova, energy labels apply to a range of energy-impacting products, and next week, the Government will approve regulations for 5 more products.
For the Republic of Moldova, these regulations are important because they will allow for a reduction in energy consumption in the residential sector, responsible for about half of the final energy consumption. Replacing energy-inefficient appliances will also contribute to reducing CO2 greenhouse gas emissions by 268,000 tons in the Republic of Moldova.
The vouchers are distributed to include families with the maximum number of children and individuals over 63 years of age. To be eligible, beneficiaries must be registered in the Energy Vulnerability Information System. They will be notified via SMS or email about the availability of the vouchers, which can be accessed through the platform compensatii.gov.md.
In the current session, up to 32,000 families in the Republic of Moldova can change their washing machine or refrigerator with a government subsidy of up to 70% of their price.
With a budget estimated at 7.5 million euros, the current edition of the program is financed by Norway through Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies in the Republic of Moldova (E4M) project, initiated by the Government of Germany and implemented by GIZ Moldova to speed up the energy transition in the Republic of Moldova.
