Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Energocom stock company today informed that an increased demand of electric energy had been recorded on the last days, with the necessary amount of energy supplied from the OPCOM Romanian exchange, where the prices are higher against the month before. In the context, the enterprise urges consumers to rationally use the energy resources.

„While on the period 1-10 December 2023, the overall quantity purchased from import (mainly from Romania) and from the Kuchurgan power station was of about 96,000 MWh, about 110,000 MWh was bought for the same period of this year, which is by about 15 per cent more. The higher demand of electric energy on the local market started in late last November, when also the OPCOM’s prices started increasing, against the background of a high demand in Romania too,’’ Energocom said.

According to the initial forecast for December 2024, the Energocom stock company will purchase about 463,000 MWh in all for the consumption on the right bank of Dniester, of which 170,500 MWh (about 37 per cent) - from the Kuchurgan power station of the Transnistrian region. In fact, the deliveries from Kuchurgan for the first ten days of December are a bit higher against the monthly schedule agreed upon. Under this contract, the cost of the energy is 66 dollars/MWh.

One third of the energy needed – about 150,000 MWh – is to be bought from the OPCOM Romanian exchange, as well as from other partners from Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. Another 22,320 MWh (equivalent of 30 MWh band 24/24 hours) is purchased from the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Station of Romania. The quantity of electricity bought from Nuclearelectrica increased by 10 MWh in December against the month before. The price of the energy from Nuclearelectrica is preferential for Moldova, capped under an emergency ordinance to 400 Romanian lei/MWh or 80 euros/MWh.

The local thermal power stations from Chisinau and Balti are to generate 115,400 MWh (or about 25 per cent), while the renewable energy installations – about 6,400 MWh (1.4 per cent), according to Energocom.
