Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport stays operational during severe weather: all flights carried out safely
The Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport has continued to operate without interruption, despite the severe weather conditions of recent days, marked by heavy snowfall, low temperatures and ice formation. According to the airport’s administration, all flights were operated under maximum safety conditions, without incidents and passengers were able to continue their journeys as scheduled.
Airport’s representatives note that this weather episode was a rare one. Over the last approximately 50 years, similar conditions have been recorded only three times, and on those occasions, the airport’s activity was suspended, with the infrastructure becoming temporarily inoperable due to the weather. This time, however, the airport managed to remain fully functional.
Maintaining operations was possible thanks to modern technical equipment, sufficient stocks of materials for interventions and the prompt response of on-duty teams. The administration highlights the role of qualified personnel, who worked continuously to de-ice runways and aprons and to ensure safe operating conditions, according to the airport’s authority.
Officials point out that, while more European airports were forced to temporarily suspend their activity, over similar weather phenomena, the Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport stayed open and operational, continuing to serve passengers without major disruptions.
The airport administration thanked the employees involved in maintaining uninterrupted activity and gave assurances that flight safety remains the main priority, including under extreme weather conditions.
