Farmers can apply for grants of up to 1 million dollars: Ministry of Agriculture launches AGGRI 2026 call
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) announces the launch of the 5th grant call under the AGGRI Project, intended for farmers in the Republic of Moldova. Applications can be submitted between March 2 and May 29, 2026.
The call targets support for farmers in sectors such as cattle, sheep, and goat farming, focused on milk production, mixed systems, and meat production; pig and poultry (gallinaceous species) farms, for investments in strengthening biosecurity measures. Investments are also eligible for equipping laying-hen farms with enriched cages or alternative housing systems, in order to comply with animal welfare and food safety standards.
“In addition to the livestock sectors, the call also provides support for the following subsectors: the vegetable sector – all species of vegetables grown for commercial purposes. Niche horticultural crops, such as: berries: black, red, and white currants, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, goji, gooseberries, black chokeberry, rosehips; aromatic and medicinal plants: black elder (Sambucus nigra), damask rose (for jam), sea buckthorn, lavender, mint, horehound, rosemary, stevia; nurseries for producing the mentioned species. Processing and direct marketing of agricultural production – investments in the processing and value-adding of milk, meat, niche horticultural crops, essential oils and extracts, feed, and other products obtained from agricultural raw materials,” MAIA explains.
The maximum value of a grant can reach 1 million US dollars, without exceeding 50% of the value of eligible investment.
For the niche crop sector, the investment ceiling is 70,000 dollars per beneficiary, except for cooperatives, where the limit may be 300,000 dollars.
Through this call, MAIA aims to support farmers and agricultural operators in modernizing farms, increasing productivity and product quality, as well as strengthening biosecurity and animal welfare, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the agri-food sector in the Republic of Moldova.
The AGGRI (Agriculture Governance, Growth and Resilience Investment Project) is one of the most important recent programs for the modernization of agriculture in the Republic of Moldova – essentially a strategic instrument through which the state is seeking to transform agriculture from a sector vulnerable to crises into a competitive, market- and export-oriented sector. AGGRI is an investment project financed by the World Bank, approved in 2023, with a value of approximately 55 million US dollars.
