Fuel prices decrease for second week in row

Fuel prices are decreasing for the second week in a row. During the period, the petrol price dropped by 0.31 lei per liter, and diesel by 0.62 lei.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) explained that the price decreases are occurring in a favorable international context, where Brent crude oil futures contracts have been traded around 74.5 dollars per barrel, down approximately 8 dollars from the peak reached during January.

The downward trend in oil prices has been further emphasized by the U.S. President's announcement regarding the intention to increase domestic oil production to counteract rising crude oil prices worldwide, announced ANRE.

As a result, Platts quotes for oil-derived products have seen moderate declines over the past two weeks, about 4% for petrol and 8% for diesel, thus approaching the levels recorded at the beginning of 2025.

Under these conditions, ANRE has set a maximum price for COR 95 petrol at 24.48 lei per liter for the next three days. At the same time, diesel will decrease by 0.02 lei and will cost 21.09 lei per liter.
