Gas price on exchange on days Moldovagaz purchased gas for Transnistrian region - 740 euros per thousand cubic meters

The trading price of gas on the exchange on 11-12 February 2025, when Moldovagaz purchased gas for the Transnistrian region was about 740 euros per thousand cubic meters, excluding VAT. State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan made the statement today.

In total, over the two days, Moldovagaz purchased 5.3 million m3 of gas, which was prepaid by Tiraspoltransgaz.


“Exchange trading is conducted by providing financial guarantees equivalent to the value of the natural gas acquired. Payment is made in advance. Thus, Tiraspoltransgaz prepaid Moldovagaz the value of the purchased gas and the gas transportation services provided by Vestmoldtransgaz," Borosan said.


The gas exchange price includes the transportation service tariff. Thus, the delivery tariff from VTP (Virtual Trading Point) to the exit points towards the distribution networks on the left bank is 311 lei/thousand m3.

Additionally, exchange transactions are taxed according to the Fiscal Code of the Republic of Moldova and include 8% VAT for natural gas.

Borosan explained that trading orders are placed through Moldovagaz, the parent company of Tiraspoltransgaz under the Emergency Situations Commission order. Moldovagaz acts in this case as an agent of Tiraspoltransgaz because the latter is not a participant on the natural gas market, lacking an ANRE license. Purchases occur on the Day Ahead Market,” he said.

Yesterday, Moldovagaz purchased gas from the exchange for the second consecutive day for the Transnistrian region, using financial resources from Tiraspoltransgaz, which prepaid the volumes.

As of 1 January 2025, Gazprom suspended natural gas deliveries to Moldovagaz, despite having a valid contract until 2026, leaving consumers in the Transnistrian region without natural gas and consequently without heating and hot water.
