IMF Executive Board to consider launching talks on new programme with Moldova

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will discuss, on February 27 this year, the mission report and the launch of talks on a new programme with Moldova. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu made statements to this effect today.

"On February 27, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund will discuss the IMF mission report under Article IV and the launch of talks on a new programme with Moldova. We are expecting good news from Washington," said Alexandru Munteanu after a today’s cabinet meeting.

An IMF team of experts, led by Alina Iancu, visited Moldova in December 2025 for consultations with the Moldovan authorities. Based on the mission’s preliminary findings, the experts’ team was to prepare a report which, subject to approval by IMF management, would be submitted for discussion and approval to the IMF Executive Board.
