Moldova participates in Fruit Logistica international exhibition with most numerous presence
About 20 producers and exports of fruits from Moldova on 5-7 February 2025 participate in one of the biggest and most important international exhibition – Fruit Logistica. Moldova’s presence with country stand in Berlin, Germany, was co-financed by the Moldovan Investments Agency.
„The participation of Moldovan producers and exporters in Berlin shows their commitment to the international market. Despite the global challenges, Moldova diversifies its exports of fruits and extends its markets. The exports of apples increased by 12 per cent against 2023 and the deliveries to the European Union increased by 87 per cent, and EU became the second export destination. At the same time, the quota to the Middle East maintained at six per cent,’’ the executive director of the Moldova Fruct Association, Iurie Fala, said.
Presently, Moldovan fruits reach tables of consumers from about 50 countries and this performance is the result of Moldova’s constant participation in international exhibitions and the investments made in the development of infrastructure and export capacities.„As for the Moldovan plums, the 2024 season was more difficult because of the drought, affecting the volume of export; yet, the average price grew by 50 per cent. The share of export of Moldovan plums to the EU market stood at 79 per cent. These achievements reduced Moldova’s dependence on the traditional markets. A major success of this season was the tripling of the overall volume of export of apricots. The quota of export to EU increased from 32 per cent to 56 per cent; and EU became the principal sales market and the average price increased 1.5-fold,’’ a specialist in marketing at Moldova Fruct, Alexandra Bicu, said.
Fruit Logistica this year brings together about 3,000 exhibitors from the sectors of fresh fruits and vegetables from 145 countries, as well as more than 65,000 visitors. The event is a platform of dialogue, innovations, technological solutions and tendencies in the sector. Moldova Fruct has been participating in Fruits Logistica since 2012.
