Moldovan capital's budget for 2024 voted in first reading
Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today approved, in the first reading, the capital’s budget for this year. The budget was backed by 44 councilors who participated in the meeting. The budget was adopted after more failed attempts and with a delay of several months. After the voting procedure, the councilors continue the discussions for the document’s approval in the second reading.
The head of the finance general department, Olesea Psenitchi, at the meeting said that the document provided for 7.717 billion lei in revenues, with transfers from the state budget of 3.976 billion lei. As for the expenses, 8.365 billion lei is suggested, with a budgetary balance of 647.7 million lei.
„The faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) assumes the de-blocking of the Chisinau municipality’s budget, its improvement and adjusting according to the needs of the residents. The general mayor, Ion Ceban, eventually came to discussions with PAS. Most requests filed by the PAS faction were accepted. We got the financing of the groups with prolonged schedule from the Chisinau municipal budget. We got the increase in the budget for the suburbs by 50 million lei. By 50 million lei more will be also allocated to the yards of blocks of flats – money due to be distributed equally to each district. We acquired 30 million lei in the budget for the General Urban Plan. We got 25 million lei for the reviving of the historical centre. The central area, i.e. the nucleus of Chisinau, must enjoy a greater attention. Therefore, we will create a new fund, on the revitalization of the historical centre, including designings, studies, expertise and co-financings,’’ the head of the PAS faction from CMC, Zinaida Popa, said before the voting.
„I discussed with the PAS councilors and we are ready to support the great majority of the proposals. I said from the very beginning that I am ready to discuss with each faction, in order to continue the projects for people. I suggest that we today continue the holding of the CMC meeting, just as it was planned. I am interested, first of all, in the interests of the citizens and the capital’s residents,’’ mayor Ion Ceban said.
CMC more times tried to approve the budget for this year, but they failed. In these conditions, a provisional budget was enforced.
