European Commissioner at Moldova Business Week 2026: Whoever invests in Moldova today is investing in European success story

The reforms implemented by the Republic of Moldova as part of its path toward European Union accession are helping create a more predictable and attractive business environment for investment. Whoever invests in Moldova today is investing in a European success story. The statements were made by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos in a video address at the opening of the 11th edition of Moldova Business Week, held in Chișinău.

The European official noted that the Republic of Moldova has made rapid progress in implementing reforms and is becoming increasingly attractive to investors.


“I would like to start by congratulating you on delivering high-quality enlargement reforms at an impressive pace. The progress of your reforms is increasing confidence. Europe sees your progress. So do investors. Moldova is becoming increasingly attractive. Your reform agenda provides a solid foundation that Moldova must now build upon, as well as a strong business case, with ambition and decisive momentum,” said Marta Kos.


She added that the reforms aimed at accession to the European Union are creating a strong business environment, bringing predictability and legal certainty, and strengthening administrative capacity. This enables businesspeople to experience the benefits of European integration even before full accession.


“All of this provides the foundation for investment, higher productivity, stronger growth and jobs at home. As investors are increasingly attentive to Moldova’s potential, we must step up our efforts for Moldova’s economic future. Moldovan producers are gradually gaining access to the opportunities and benefits of our single market. More will follow, step by step, ahead of full accession,” the European Commissioner emphasized.


At the same time, Marta Kos announced that the EU is preparing a renewed package of substantial financial support for the Republic of Moldova starting in 2028. This support will follow the implementation of the €1.9 billion Growth Plan granted by the EU, which will be used through 2027.


“This support must attract private investment in key sectors, in close cooperation with international financial institutions,” Marta Kos said.


She emphasized that Moldova has much to offer international investors and that whoever invests in Moldova today is investing in a European success story.


“You have a strategic position as a gateway to European markets, skilled people and sectors with enormous potential, from digital technologies to manufacturing and logistics. Whoever invests in Moldova today is investing in a European success story. Let us roll up our sleeves and work together. Moldova’s moment is now,” Commissioner Marta Kos concluded.


Moldova Business Week (MBW) is one of the Republic of Moldova’s most important economic platforms. Now in its 11th edition, the event began today in Chișinău and brings together investors, exporters, companies, financial institutions and decision-makers from the country and abroad to discuss the country’s economic development through European economic integration, attracting investment and expanding exports.
