Moldovan deputy PM says Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development has mission to transpose 256 European legislative acts in next 24 months

The process of Moldova’s European integration enters a new stage with the completion of the screening and setting of concrete goals to harmonize national legislation with European legislation. Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea has said that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development had the priority of transposing 256 European legislative acts, directives and regulations within a 24-month period.

"After finishing the screening and receiving the progress notes, our objective is clear: in 24 months, to transpose 256 European legislative acts. Behind each directive stands a legal framework that helps us develop the national economy," said Bolea.

The minister emphasized that investments in infrastructure represented one of the direct ways in which the state stimulates the economy.

"We build a road - businesses, jobs, and incomes for municipalities appear. In this way, we develop Moldova multi-dimensionally," he noted.

According to Bolea, the naval and railway transport sector will receive increased attention on behalf of the government in the coming years, being considered economic and ecological means of transport.

"We are a country exporting over 5.5 million tons of agricultural products. For us, navigation and the railway are priorities," added the minister.

He also said that, besides transposing the European directives, the implementation of reforms in collaboration with the business environment was essential.

The project is completed only when the reform is implemented. Therefore, we must work together - ministries, companies, and local administrations - for these rules to work in practice," said Bolea.

The minister also referred to future opportunities offered by pre-accession funds, noting that authorities would collaborate with companies and municipalities to attract investments through regional programs.

"Our objective is clear - to prepare Moldova for accession to the European Union, with a competitive agricultural and transport sector capable of facing European competition," concluded Vladimir Bolea.
