
Moldovan, Estonian officials tackle economic cooperation, bilateral ties
Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Stephane Bride met Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Keit Pentus-Rosimannus today. The officials discussed the new economic cooperation opportunities between Moldova and Estonia, as well as the Estonian experience in the European integration.
Stephane Bride underlined the importance to boost the Moldovan-Estonian economic ties, based on the cooperation potential provided by the Free Trade Agreement with EU and conveyed a message to Estonian investors to develop business ideas in Moldova. Bride stressed the interest showed by the Estonian delegation, on a recent business mission to Moldova. During the visit of the delegation, which also included members of Estonia-Moldova friendship group and representatives of Estonian entrepreneurs, the sides analysed cooperation opportunities in the oil sector, wine-making sector, and paid a visit to the Giurgiulesti International Port.
Bride also informed that, under the aegis of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a group of Moldovan businessmen will pay an economic mission to the Baltic States on 17-22 May 2015, that will end with the Economic Forum within the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga.
At the same time, Stephane Bride also talked about the results of the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with EU and their benefits for the business environment. Bride underscored that, out of the 109 actions planned for 2014, 74 had been already achieved and another 35 were to be approved.
For her part, Keit Pentus-Rosimannus spoke out for maintaining the dialogue more active, both to continue to develop the bilateral ties and to turn to account more efficiently the common economic interests of the two states at the European level.
The trade turnover between Moldova and Estonia was of 10,406,900 million dollars in 2014, up by 41.9 per cent against 2013.
