Moldovan National Road Transport Agency warns road transport operators that Bulgaria introduces traffic restrictions for trucks in 2026
The National Road Transport Agency (ANTA) informs road transport operators from Moldova about temporary traffic restrictions that will be applied in Bulgaria throughout 2026.
According to information received from the competent Bulgarian authorities, the measures concern vehicles with a total mass of more than 12 tons and are scheduled to be applied during official holiday periods.
“The main purpose of the restrictions is to ensure smoother traffic for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, as well as to reduce the risk of road accidents during peak periods. The restrictions apply to certain sections of Bulgaria’s main motorways, including Trakia, Hemus and Struma, and are valid during specific time intervals. The Bulgarian authorities are introducing these measures, in order to optimize traffic flow and road safety, especially on days with heavy traffic,” explains the National Road Transport Agency.
ANTA recommends that road transport operators plan their routes and travel schedules taking these restrictions into account and regularly consult official information, in order to avoid delays and penalties.
For full details on the restricted sections, dates and time intervals of application, as well as exceptions, operators are urged to access the official link provided by the Bulgarian authorities: https://anta.gov.md/content/restric%C8%9Biile-de-circula%C8%9Bie-pe-teritoriul-republicii-bulgaria-%C3%AEn-anul-2026-pentru-vehicule-cu.
Compliance with these restrictions is essential for the safety of international road transport and the smooth running of operators’ activities.
