Moldovan PM, Ambassador of Cyprus discuss European path of Moldova
The prospects for deepening the Moldovan-Cypriot relations, Moldova’s accession process to the European Union and the reforms initiated by the government to ensure a better life for every citizen have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Ambassador of Cyprus Pericles Demetriou Stivaros.
The PM noted that Cyprus was an example of a country which, after joining the EU, had enjoyed greater stability, security and economic development. The prime minister emphasized that this experience and Cyprus’ support were important for Moldova’s European path, including in the context of Cyprus assuming, as of 1 January, the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
“The Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council plays an important role for us, so that we can advance in the process of negotiation for EU accession. We are learning from those who have followed the same path and we have an ambitious agenda on the European track,” said Alexandru Munteanu.
The officials also discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in such areas as trade, energy sector, as well as tourism – supported by the existence of direct flights. The sides also underlined the importance of cooperation between the investment agencies of the two countries.
