There comes time in life when you must return and contribute to country’s economic growth - deputy premier says
It is a moment in life when you must return and contribute to the country’s economic growth. This is what Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu says, who gave up an annual salary of about 150,000 euros at the World Bank Group in order to return to the country and take over the leadership of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization.
“There is what we in Romanian call ‘returning’, to return to the country that gave you life, where you were born, to return to the country that gave me an education, in addition to my parents’ upbringing, that offered me my first job here in the Republic of Moldova, that gave me the opportunity to study abroad, and there comes a time in life when you must return and contribute to the country’s economic growth,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.
Osmochescu stressed that he is a strong supporter of European integration and now sees a window of opportunity to contribute, with his experience and knowledge, to advancing the Republic of Moldova in the process of rapprochement with the European Union.
He has more than 25 years of experience in designing and implementing public policies and economic development strategies. Before being appointed Minister of Economic Development, he worked within the World Bank Group and coordinated complex economic reform programs in several countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
