Prime Minister in talks with 16 mayors of Chişinău suburbs
The priorities for developing the suburbs of the municipality of Chişinău, the daily problems faced by residents, as well as the projects carried out with the support of the Government to improve the standard of living of all inhabitants of Chişinău were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and mayors of the localities in the capital area.
The Prime Minister noted that only through cooperation can the best solutions be identified for overcoming the existing challenges at the local level, stressing that a common priority for both central and local authorities remains the acceleration of all initiated projects, with a focus on infrastructure rehabilitation. In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to strengthen teams at the local level in order to prepare for the efficient absorption of European funds that will be available to our country.
“We have a shared responsibility: to manage public money efficiently, transparently and in a balanced way. Today’s meeting had exactly this purpose – to find, together with the mayors, the most suitable solutions for the needs of people in our communities. I thank all the mayors who came to the discussion, because people expect genuine cooperation and real solutions,” he said.
In recent years, the Government has allocated over 185 million lei for projects in the suburbs, invested 950 million lei in the city’s hospitals, provided free meals for school students, and launched the renovation of dormitories and universities in the capital. At the same time, work is underway on the Chişinău Beltway, roads and courtyards are being repaired, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens are being modernized, and water and sewage systems are being expanded. “These are concrete investments through which the Government supports the growth of the suburbs and assists local public administrations across the country. I thank the mayors for their partnership, perseverance, and for the way they turn every public leu into visible results for people,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
The mayors of the suburbs appreciated the contribution of the Chisinau authorities, noting that thanks to the support provided by the Government, 60% of local roads have been repaired in the commune of Cruzeşti, while the commune of Trușeni now has 100% access to drinking water.
The local representatives also addressed the difficulties they face and the needs of residents, such as the large-scale land delimitation process, parking fees, traffic congestion in the city, financial constraints caused by the unapproved municipal budget, and they underlined the need to develop businesses in their communities in order to create new jobs.
