Moldova and Korea strengthen bilateral economic cooperation: agreement signed in Chișinău

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Korea are strengthening the bilateral economic cooperation. This has become possible after Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to our country Kichang Park signed an Agreement between the two governments on economic cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the purpose of the document is to strengthen economic relations between the two states through joint projects in areas of mutual interest, such as the economy, trade, investments, transport, and energy, thereby contributing in the long term to deepening the Moldovan-Korean partnership.

By signing the Agreement, the two states agreed to establish the Moldovan-Korean Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation. The Commission will identify areas of cooperation of mutual interest, recommend measures to strengthen bilateral economic relations, and help eliminate any potential obstacles that may hinder the normal conduct of trade exchanges and economic cooperation.

Statistics show that Moldova’s foreign trade with the Republic of Korea reached 105.0 million US dollars in 2025, up by 26.2% compared to 2024.

Eight enterprises with Korean capital are currently operating in the Republic of Moldova, with investments in share capital totaling around 2.3 million lei.
