Steady increase in passenger numbers at Eugen Doga International Airport – Chișinău: most popular destinations in March
The number of passengers served by Eugen Doga International Airport – Chișinău is recording a steady increase. In March, total passenger traffic exceeded 425,000 people, 25 percent more than in the same month last year.
According to airport data, the largest increases in passenger flow were recorded on destinations such as Sharm el-Sheikh, Paris, Barcelona, Bucharest, Yerevan, Prague, Larnaca, Brussels, Bologna, London, Nice, Dortmund, Frankfurt, and Milan.
At the same time, the new destinations introduced into the flight network attracted 32,178 passengers in March, representing approximately 7.6% of total monthly traffic. Among the most requested new destinations are Bratislava, Naples, Turin, Wrocław, Copenhagen, Bari, Baden-Baden, Billund, and Alicante.
“March 2026 highlights a steady increase in passenger traffic, supported by high demand for both departures and arrivals, as well as by the expansion of the operated route network, which indicates increased mobility and better international connectivity. The trend is supported by higher flight frequencies and the expansion of the portfolio of operated destinations, the development of outbound tourism and the growing mobility of the population, the strengthening of economic relations and business passenger flows, and the expansion of cooperation with international air operators,” the Airport Administration stated.
In March, 3,141 aircraft landings and takeoffs were recorded at Chișinău Airport, an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The volume of cargo transported in March amounted to 232.9 tonnes.
“Eugen Doga” International Airport – Chișinău returned to state management in the spring of 2023. The authorities have previously announced the modernization of airport infrastructure and the attraction of investments in order to increase capacity and service quality, under a state-managed regime that is transparent and oriented towards the public interest.
At present, the airport ranks among the most efficient airports in Europe in the 1–10 million passengers per year category. Growth is supported by the expansion of the route network and the number of airlines, which has increased from 20 in 2022 to 33 in 2024.
