Turnover of companies residing in Moldova IT Park surpass record one-billion-dollar figure in 2025
The aggregated turnover of resident companies of the Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP) has exceeded the symbolic threshold of 1 billion US dollars in 2025, representing an increase of 24.3 per cent compared to 2024 and roughly ten times more than in 2018, the year when the park was established. The preliminary data for 2025 were presented at a today’s news conference.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu said that this exceptional performance confirmed the quick transformation of MITP from a public policy instrument into a true national economic engine, with a direct impact on economic growth, exports and the strengthening of the highly qualified labor market.
“The one-billion-dollar turnover is symbolic, but it is also a psychological threshold, because it shows that we, in Moldova, together with all participants from the public sector and especially those from the private sector, can grow and continue to grow,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.
According to the official, the park will continue to be developed, ensuring long-term business predictability up to 2037, and will be adjusted according to the needs of the sector.
“An important goal, in addition to accession to the European Union, is for this sector to grow and, why not, reach a contribution of 10 per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” concluded Eugeniu Osmochescu.
MITP Administrator Marina Bzovii noted that the park currently included 2,725 companies from 44 countries, with an impressive increase in their number during 2025, when 571 companies joined. At the same time, there is a continuous increase in the number of employees in the IT industry, reaching 25,000. Marina Bzovii added that the average monthly salary of employees among the park’s residents was 50,000 lei, or 2,500 euros. The sectors with the highest sales are client-oriented software design, data processing, call center and dispatching services, IT consulting and software product editing services.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (MDED) Michele Iliev said that, in recent years, the IT sector of Moldova had experienced dynamic development, starting from about 2,000 employees 8–10 years ago.“When the park appeared, there was a lot of skepticism about whether this 7-per cent regime would work, but here we are today at this historic threshold of 1 billion dollars which, in fact, is not a finish line but, on the contrary, a starting line for growing this sector. And the starting point we want to reach is to move from outsourcing to product development, in order to stimulate the growth of an innovation-based economy,” noted Michelle Iliev.
At the same time, the authorities aim to further develop the IT sector in the country by expanding activities and moving from a virtual park to a physical one.
“The mechanisms we are developing, starting with 2025, first of all involve the development of a physical park. During 8 years, we have built a virtual park, the most innovative in the region, and we firmly see that at the European level it is also an excellent product and a good model to follow. In 2026, we will continue with the pre-feasibility study for the Moldova Hitech Park, which is to become the official home for MITP residents,” emphasized the State Secretary of MDED.
According to official data, exports are the backbone of the MITP’s ecosystem, reaching in 2025 the value of 16.37 billion lei, or approximately 88.5 per cent of total eligible sales. This level shows that IT specialists from Moldova develop digital products and services for global clients, including renowned companies and international leaders from various industries.
For 2026, the total revenues of MITP resident companies are estimated at approximately 19.9 billion lei, which would represent a projected increase of about 5–6 per cent compared to the 2025 turnover. The figures are preliminary and are based on estimates reported by resident companies, confirming the maintenance of a positive and sustainable dynamic of the MITP ecosystem.
The Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP), created in 2018, is the first e-Park in Europe, offering a single tax regime of 7 per cent and a stable framework guaranteed by the state until 2035, with an operating term until 2037.
