
USA reconfirms interest to develop economic partnerships with Moldova
Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/- The United States will further back Moldova by implementing joint projects on diversifying the energy resources in the country, promoting the local products on sales market from the USA and drawing American investments in Moldova's economy. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews gave assurances about it at a today's meeting with Deputy Economics Minister Tudor Copaci.
According to sources in the Economics Ministry, the two officials remarked the ascendant dynamics of the Moldovan-American bilateral relations and pointed out the need to maintain the positive trend.
The Moldovan side reiterated the will to sign a frame-agreement in the trade and investment sector, which would open new opportunities for cooperation in the economic and investment sectors. In the context, Copaci thanked for the constant assistance offered to the country and highlighted the importance of strengthening the economic and friendship relations between Moldova and the USA.
At the same time, the officials opted for organising the next meeting of the Moldovan-American joint commission on economic cooperation in Chisinau in July.
The USA ranks fifth after investments in social capital in Moldova. At the same time, in 2014, the Moldovan-American trade was amounted to 108 million dollars (up by 10 million dollars against 2013), of which the export was estimated at 32.1 million dollars and import - 76.4 million dollars.
