Moldovan deputy PM meets Diaspora in Belgium

We are determined to bring Moldova into the great European family. Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi has made statements to this effect at a meeting with Moldovan citizens residing in Belgium.

The discussions focused on facilitating access to fast and quality consular services, as well as the opportunities provided by state-supported reintegration programmes aimed at supporting returning home and the active involvement of citizens in the country's economic and social life.

The official thanked the Moldovan community of Belgium for their active involvement in promoting the European path of Moldova.

“We appreciate the valuable contribution and active involvement in promoting our country's European path. The Moldovan Diaspora has always been a bridge between Moldova and Belgium. From employees in European institutions to entrepreneurs, students, or professionals from various fields, everyone contributes to promoting our country's image in the European Union,” Mihai Popsoi said.

The Moldovan diplomacy head also referred to the latest progress made in the process of joining the European Union and emphasized the importance of a joint effort in achieving this goal.

“We are determined to bring Moldova into the great European family. With the support of our citizens, wherever they may be, we can build a safe, European and modern country,” Mihai Popsoi said.

At the same time, the official thanked the Moldovan citizens for their active participation in the presidential elections and the referendum in 2024. The official encouraging them to make their voices heard again at the elections due in next autumn, which will represent a decisive moment for Moldova’s European future.

At the end of the meeting, Popsoi reiterated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' commitment to stay a reliable partner of the Diaspora and to promote initiatives that directly address the needs of Moldovan citizens abroad.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi paid a working visit to Brussels, Belgium, on July 14-15. The Moldovan diplomacy head held talks with foreign ministers of EU member states, during the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

The official discussed Moldova's EU membership agenda, in the context of regional security, new cooperation opportunities with the EU on security dimensions and strengthening resilience against hybrid threats.
