VIDEO // Black ice keeps high risks on national roads of Moldova, after yellow ice warning extended till February 9
Unfriendly weather conditions continue to pose increased risks for road traffic, as the Yellow Code weather warning for black ice and glaze ice has been extended till 9 February 2026 and is valid for the entire territory of Moldova. Road maintenance teams are continuing to work intensively to combat ice and black ice, by carrying out snow removal and spreading anti-skid material on national routes, according to the National Roads’ Administration (AND).
According to the institution, at this time, road traffic is difficult on more roads of the country due to adverse weather conditions.
"To prevent blockages and road incidents, heavy vehicles and buses are forced to stop on the shoulder, a measure applied temporarily until the situation improves," AND states.
The National Roads’ Administration urges citizens to avoid non-essential travel until traffic conditions improve. Drivers are asked to drive with maximum caution, adapt their speed to road surface conditions and follow the instructions of the authorities and the intervention teams in the field.
In case of emergency or for additional information, the Operational Service of the National Roads’ Administration is available 24/7 at the following phone numbers: (+373) 78 337 744 and (+373) 60 477 117.
