VIDEO // Moldovan Infrastructure Ministry's official says national roads permanently monitored, traffic safety stays priority

State Secretary of Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR) Nicolae Mindra has provided clarifications regarding the condition of national public roads and the measures taken by the authorities to maintain road safety, in the context of the difficult weather conditions of recent periods.

According to the official, the national roads’ network is continuously monitored, and the competent institutions intervene promptly, in order to ensure roads’ viability and reduce risks for traffic participants.

“Roads’ maintenance teams are mobilized in the field, and patrol actions, anti-skid operations and the application of anti-slip materials are carried out, depending on the evolution of weather conditions and the situation in each region,” the official said.

Nicolae Mindra stressed that, in addition to the efforts of the authorities and road maintenance operators, the responsible behavior of drivers plays an essential role in preventing road accidents.

In this regard, the state secretary urged drivers to drive carefully, adapt their speed to the present road conditions, avoid risky maneuvers and get information in advance about the condition of the routes they plan to travel.

“Traffic safety is a shared responsibility. The authorities intervene and fulfill their duties, but compliance with traffic rules and adapting behavior to road conditions are essential for the protection of life and property,” the state secretary noted.

The MIDR reiterates its call to all traffic participants to show maximum responsibility, especially during periods of unfriendly weather, in order to contribute to safer traffic on national public roads.
