VIDEO // Warning for passengers: flight delays over adverse weather at Chisinau International Airport
Unfriendly weather conditions are disrupting the air traffic at the Chisinau Airport, causing significant delays for both departures and arrivals. On departure, flights are experiencing delays ranging from 20 minutes to one hour, affecting services to major destinations. Among the flights hit, there are those to London, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Bratislava and Paris. On arrival, the flight from Bucharest is delayed by 35 minutes, now estimated at 14:40 and the one from Bologna - by 30 minutes, scheduled for 18:10.
According to the administration of Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport, aircrafts on the ground must undergo a special de-icing procedure, a mandatory step before takeoff. This procedure removes ice deposits and prevents their formation on critical aircraft surfaces, and is essential for operating flights under maximum safety conditions.
Airport’s representatives point out that the de-icing process can extend aircraft’s preparation time, which may lead to delays in flight operations. Under these circumstances, the flight schedule may be adjusted depending on how the weather situation evolves and on operational needs.
The administration of the Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport stresses that the safety of passengers and crews stays the absolute priority, with all necessary measures being applied to maintain airport operations under the highest safety conditions.
Passengers are urged to check flight status regularly, by consulting the airport’s online departures and arrivals board before heading to the terminal, in order to get up-to-date information on possible delays or changes to flights.
