VIDEO // Prime Minister to hold meetings with European counterparts, EU commissioners and representatives of multilateral financial institutions

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu will discuss attracting foreign investment to the Republic of Moldova during several meetings with European counterparts, European commissioners and representatives of multilateral financial institutions. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers and Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, are participating in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, taking place on 19–23 January in Switzerland.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu underlined that the priorities of this visit are discussions and meetings with Moldova’s strategic partners.

“I will hold meetings with European counterparts, European commissioners, civil society and representatives of multilateral financial institutions in order to attract as much investment as possible to the Republic of Moldova, which will contribute to creating well-paid jobs for citizens,” stated Alexandru Munteanu.

Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu said that the message of the authorities in Chișinău is “Moldova is open, European and is a country with predictability, transparency and clear rules of the game for all entrepreneurs.”

“One of our priorities in Davos is to continue promoting the Republic of Moldova – a small state with a big heart. The Republic of Moldova is a state that has shown courage and has demonstrated that it can face the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Attracting investment is an important priority for us in all sectors in the Republic of Moldova, from agriculture to IT, from energy to transport, from river transport to road infrastructure. We want to continue to demonstrate that we can face all challenges, something we have been doing for quite a long period, over the last 4–5 years, but on the other hand, we have learned a lot. We are coming with a very clear message: Moldova is open, Moldova is European, Moldova is a country with predictability, transparency and clear rules of the game for all entrepreneurs,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.

From 19 to 22 January this year, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu are attending the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The Prime Minister will hold a series of bilateral meetings with political leaders and representatives of international companies with investment potential in our country. In discussions with investors, the Government leadership will promote the Republic of Moldova as a reliable partner and a safe place for business development.

On Wednesday, 21 January, starting at 10:00 (Moldova time), Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu will be a speaker in a panel discussion. This year, the theme of the World Economic Forum, held from 19–23 January in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, is “A Spirit of Dialogue”. The agenda of the discussions will be structured around five major global challenges: strengthening cooperation in an increasingly contested world, unlocking new sources of growth, investing in human capital, implementing large-scale innovation in a responsible manner and ensuring prosperity within planetary boundaries.

The World Economic Forum will provide an impartial platform for dialogue for nearly 3,000 participants from over 130 countries. Around 400 high-level political leaders are expected to attend, including almost 65 heads of state and government and six of the G7 leaders, as well as about 850 CEOs and presidents of the world’s largest companies.
