VIDEO // Radu Vrabie takes over as head of Customs Service

New director of Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova Radu Vrabie was introduced today to the institution's staff by Minister of Finance Andrian Gavriliță. The event officially marks the takeover of the customs authority leadership and the continuation of the reforms initiated in the customs field.

Gavriliță emphasized that Radu Vrabie's professional experience in modernizing and developing the customs system will support the digitalization process, streamline procedures, and align with European Union standards.

In his speech, Radu Vrabie expressed gratitude for the trust given and reaffirmed his commitment to continue the transformations within the Customs Service.

“I am pleased to return to the Customs Service and to lead an institution with a fundamental mission for the national economy. We are at an advanced stage of transformation, and together with the professional team, we will implement reforms dynamically, with tangible results and sustainable development for the Republic of Moldova and its European journey,” Vrabie said.

Radu Vrabie has over 20 years of experience in customs modernization and development, public policy analysis, and structural reform coordination. In the past six years, he served as deputy director of an international development program, coordinating projects on digitalization and strengthening operational capacities, including within the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.

Gavriliță thanked former director Alexandru Iacub for his contribution to digitalizing procedures, enhancing integrity, and advancing alignment with the EU acquis.
