European Parliament report welcomes Moldova’s progress
The European Parliament reconfirmed today its support for the European and democratic path of the Republic of Moldova by adopting a report that welcomes the progress made in the process of accession to the European Union and encourages the authorities in Chișinău to continue reforms. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made the statement today.
According to the official, the report voted today in Strasbourg confirms that the reforms implemented in recent years are already producing concrete results in citizens’ daily lives and acknowledges the progress achieved in the accession negotiations.
“Through this report, the European Parliament sends a new, strong message of support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova. The report on our country welcomes the progress made in the negotiation process and confirms that the reforms of recent years are already producing tangible results in the everyday life of citizens,” said Cristina Gherasimov.
According to her, the European Parliament encourages the authorities in Chișinău to maintain the pace of reforms so that the accession negotiations can be provisionally closed by the beginning of 2028, and the objective of the Republic of Moldova joining the European Union in 2030 can become a reality.
“We thank the Members of the European Parliament for the trust and constant support they provide to our country and our citizens. We continue working here at home, with the same determination, to prepare the Republic of Moldova to become a member state of the European Union,” the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration conveyed.
The European Parliament adopted, with 505 votes, the annual report on the Republic of Moldova, welcoming the progress made in reforms and calling for the opening of all negotiation clusters for EU accession. The document highlights reforms in justice, energy, the rule of law and public administration, condemns hybrid attacks and reconfirms European support for the Republic of Moldova.
