Prime Minister held talks with Latvian counterpart
Latvia will continue to support the Republic of Moldova in accession to the European Union and to share its experience. This message was conveyed during a phone conversation between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and his Latvian counterpart, Andris Kulbergs.
The officials emphasized the friendly relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan appreciated the steady support offered by Latvia and stressed that the two states share the same vision of a united, peaceful, and prosperous Europe. The two prime ministers discussed the measures needed to advance the European path of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the continuation of the exchange of expertise between institutions of the two countries, particularly in areas where Latvia has carried out important transformations.
“Latvia's experience is a valuable example for the Republic of Moldova. Latvia has shown us what it means to transform a country through European integration – stronger institutions, a more competitive economy, and greater security for citizens. We want to learn from this experience, to adopt the solutions that have worked, and adapt them to the realities of the Republic of Moldova,” said Prime Minister Tofan.
Another topic of discussion was the development of economic relations, with both sides noting the positive trend in trade and the activity in the Republic of Moldova of more than 60 companies with Latvian capital. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan encouraged the expansion of Latvian investments in our market in sectors such as information technologies, digital infrastructure, energy, and services.
