Bureau of Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Council of Europe convenes in Moldovan capital
The Bureau of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in Chisinau today convened at an event organized in the context of the Moldova’s Presidency of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers.
The meeting included a session dedicated to an exchange of opinions between the members of the Bureau and representatives of central and local authorities of Moldova.
The discussions focused on the administrative and territorial reform, combating disinformation and Moldova’s European integration process. Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu took part in the debates and presented the Government’s priorities and the current stage of the administrative and territorial reform process to the Bureau’s members and participants.
The official answered questions put by Bureau members and representatives of local public administration present at the session, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and institutional dialogue.
The president of the Congress highlighted that the reform process was complex and difficult in all member states and reiterated the Congress’s support for the authorities of Moldova in this endeavor. At the same time, he underlined the importance of broad and transparent consultations with local public authorities, in order to ensure the success of the reform.
The meeting in Chisinau confirms the Congress’s support for strengthening local democracy and for advancing the European path of Moldova.
