New rules for safer non-food products on market in Moldova: from toys to cosmetics, household appliances
Non-food products on the market will be safer for consumers. The government has approved a new Methodology for assessing the level of risk for these products, which will allow the authorities to identify dangerous goods more quickly and intervene promptly.
To detect products that pose a risk to health or safety, clear criteria will be applied, such as the type of hazard, the severity of possible injuries and the categories of consumers exposed. Depending on the level of danger, measures may be imposed, including restricting sales, withdrawing the product or issuing a product recall.
The new rules will target products used daily – from toys and children’s articles to cosmetics, household appliances or electrical equipment with a fire risk.
Thus, products that can cause burns, poisoning or electric shocks will be able to be identified before accidents occur. The methodology enables the quick notification of dangerous products through alert systems, so that risks can be prevented, not just sanctioned subsequently.
