Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration meets Speaker of Lithuania
On July 8 of this year, during a working visit to Vilnius, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas. The meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Remigijus Motuzas.
The Deputy Prime Minister informed his counterpart about the efforts of the Republic of Moldova regarding the steps taken to promote a peaceful and lasting settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, in light of the existing regional security context. He also expressed gratitude for Lithuania’s consistent support for the Republic of Moldova in its European integration process, emphasizing the importance of keeping this topic on the agenda of the authorities in Vilnius in view of Lithuania’s forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, starting on January 1, 2027.
For his part, Juozas Olekas welcomed the progress made by the Republic of Moldova on European path and expressed full support for the further advancement of this objective. The Lithuanian Speaker also highly appreciated the measures undertaken to implement policies aimed at the gradual reintegration of the country, reiterating firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
