Foreign minister sent statement after completing Moldova Support Platform
Chisinau, Nov. 22 /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu sent a statement after the completion of the Moldova Support Platform, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The statement reads:
"I would like to thank the personal commitment of the foreign ministers of Romania - Bogdan Aurescu, France - Catherine Colonna and Germany - Annalena Baerbock, for the Republic of Moldova, for stability and peace. Thanks to this fact, today we are talking about risks and challenges and not about negative scenarios translated into reality. Thanks to the support platform, we can talk about our country's future plans, about a future in the great family of European democracies.
Moldova is more stable, peaceful and in a more calm situation than if it had happened otherwise. Together we were able to provide an adequate humanitarian response to the refugee situation in Ukraine, to ensure stability and social cohesion in our country, including in the Transnistrian region, to prepare the country for a hard winter and to face the hybrid war that Russia is waging against us .
Also, the solidarity of friendly countries helped us to intensify reforms, strengthen democracy and our institutions, fight against corruption and prepare our country for the prospect of joining the European Union.
Secondly - the platform is not just a series of conferences - we work with our friends continuously, on the phone, through messages, in preparatory meetings to connect to current realities.
For example, Russian bombing of critical infrastructure in Ukraine has produced new energy supply problems.
We are in constant contact and consultation, constituting several ways of working: implementation of our country's aid scheme in the conditions of the energy crisis, to allow donors to support energy purchases, and with representatives of the donor committee from the World Bank.
Thirdly - today it is not about movement in one direction, only for the benefit of Moldova. It is a joint effort to maintain and preserve stability in Europe, to help Ukraine overcome this brutal war. It is an event in favor of a democratic and resilient society. I am happy to note that in this Platform we have more than 50 partners and friends: countries and international organizations that help us overcome the dramatic consequences of the war in the neighboring country.
Fourth: Moldova is determined to continue contributing to peace, security and freedom in Europe.
With friends by our side, we will maintain a strong, free and European Moldova - this will be our contribution for a more resilient Union in the future".
