PM, former U.S secretary of state discuss regional security, investment opportunities of Moldova
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan in New York has met Mike Pompeo, former United States Secretary of State and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The discussion took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The sides discussed the security situation in Eastern Europe, Moldova’s European path and the country’s development prospects. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan spoke about Moldova’s efforts to strengthen its resilience and energy security, including through the development of new energy interconnections with the European Union.
An important topic of the meeting was attracting more investments to Moldova and expanding economic partnerships. Opportunities for U.S. companies were highlighted in such sectors as energy, infrastructure, IT and telecommunications, agriculture and the food industry, as well as logistics.
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized that Moldova was advancing with the implementation of reforms and on its path toward European Union accession, creating new opportunities for business development and stronger economic cooperation.
